چکیده

Abstract Natural capital (NC) accounts measure and value the benefits that ecosystems provide to humans. Marine biodiversity supports human well-being directly by providing a source of food (e.g. wild fish), indirectly employment fisheries, tourism) recreation diving). The inclusion marine environment in NC accounting is relatively new. Central framework, one most challenging aspects account for. This makes trade-offs between ecosystems, services, more apparent.

Conservation of biodiversity as a strategy for improving human health and well-being.

The Earth's ecosystems have been altered by anthropogenic processes, including land use, harvesting populations, species introductions and climate change. These anthropogenic processes greatly alter plant and animal communities, thereby changing transmission of the zoonotic pathogens they carry. Biodiversity conservation may be a potential win-win strategy for maintaining ecosystem health and p...

Biodiversity Loss Threatens Human Well-Being

T he diversity of life on Earth is dramatically affected by human alterations of ecosystems [1]. Compelling evidence now shows that the reverse is also true: biodiversity in the broad sense affects the properties of ecosystems and, therefore, the benefi ts that humans obtain from them. In this article, we provide a synthesis of the most crucial messages emerging from the latest scientifi c lite...

Toward National Well-Being Accounts

Economists have traditionally eschewed direct measures of well-being on methodological grounds: the private nature of experience and the discomfort of making interpersonal comparisons. Accounting for the Impact of Conservation on Human Well-Being

Conservationists are increasingly engaging with the concept of human well-being to improve the design and evaluation of their interventions. Since the convening of the influential Sarkozy Commission in 2009, development researchers have been refining conceptualizations and frameworks to understand and measure human well-being and are starting to converge on a common understanding of how best to...
